Thank you for downloading my hack!

Within this text file, you will find the resource credits, as well as some
background information about "Super Weegle World", as I've gotten a lot of
questions about it and feel the need to answer them here.

- Couple Things To Note -

This rom is not perfect, as there's a couple of bugs I know about that I have
no idea on how to fix, all of which are thankfully not too nasty:

	- Layer 3 on the save prompt will sporadically glitch out, this is
merely visual and should not corrupt game files.
	- The number of exits at the title screen is always marked with a "%"
sign, I have no idea why this is, and I spent way too much time
trying to fix it (for reference, there are 8 exits).
	- [Spoilers] The overworld you can access by taking the alternate
route in the level "Hoshi's House" has audio that plays, which is
glitched out and plays random "tunes" depending on possible rng.
	- The bonus room will have you repeat the first segment a random
amount of times before taking you to the second room, this isn't
much of a glitch / bug and is more of an error in the game's rom
that I took advantage of. Most common amount of times one can
	  re-enter is four.

[Demo & Graphics by me]

If there are any resources that I forgot to include, my apologies in
advanced, as I more than likely forgot, sorry!

- Weegle World, This Demo & The Future -

So as for some context, "Super Weegle World" is a romhack that I have been
working on since June 2018, as it was a split-off project to another hack
that will soon become the sequel (probably won't work on that within the
2020s). I have used this project for my experimentations over the years, as a
means to educate myself on romhacking and bettering my skills as a whole with
the medium.

It started off as a generic old hack, with modifications to the vanilla
levels and messing with themes and challenges as time went on; this was most
of the early development from June 2018 to December 2019. It wasn't until
December 2020 to February 2021 that I tried to make it a cohesive hack, but I
failed and gave up on it for a bit, with the hopes of returning to it. In
February of 2022, I decided to return to the project, with the aim of finishing it. Up to this point in time, there were already 162 exits planned,
with more ideas being added. The idea to make a demo was decided upon for a
June 2022 release, but as I looked through the entire project, it looked ugly
and felt that I had nothing to truly showcase, so I decided to roll back the
idea after sharing a fully playable rom to an at-the-time good friend, and
clean up a lot of what was there.

Custom graphics weren't a thing until March 2022, as with music being
added as early as 2019. The decision to completely redesign the game didn't
happen until October 2022, where I literally ran out of space on a 4mb rom,
and needed a way to add more, while also cleaning and fixing things up. This
gave me the time to teach myself inserting patches and assembly code into the
rom, starting off with inserting SA-1 into a clean rom and upping the rom
size to 8mbs, then following that came all the other, smaller modifications
that came along the process of improvement and bug-fixing. There were also
older modifications that have been a core factor of the game since early
2022, mostly done through SMW Customizer & Tweaker. This was when I organized
the levels for every world, made the Current overworld, and used the already
existing levels as a base to expand upon, going from casual, easy levels to
long, grueling, gauntlet-like stages full of tricky enemy placements, tight
platforming, and basic puzzling.

It then became my ambition to make one of the largest romhacks ever made,
while also keeping class and style with the project, all starting with the
first level in the game. It took the next 18 months to finish most of world
one alone, but during that time period, I was learning how to optimize object
and enemy placement, as well as being more mindful of rom space, among many
more smaller things. A plan for a World One Demo was thought of at the start
of the development recycle, and while that it was completed and made in
September 2024, the decision to release it was halted, mostly due to concerns
about expectations and possible underdevelopments towards the final rendition of the levels and thus world. I too shared this rom to close friends, and
ultimately shelved it afterwards.

In August 2025 to March 2026, The third rendition of a demo for the game was
made, carrying the Easter eggs and bonus content ideas from the previous demo
into this one, while making it much smaller, hand-selecting three official
levels (two from world one, and one from world two) with two exits each for
it in a bid to make it more as a proper "taste test" for the full product for
when it's finished. I have taken a small hiatus from "Super Weegle World" to
work on smaller, more fleshed-out hacks that I plan to release within 2026.

One of the biggest issues I've had with this project is, "how do I put 255
exits into one hack?" I've known about an expander for overworld levels since
2022, but had no way to properly insert it without issues, especially
starting with the inclusion of the SA-1 chip as a vital part to making the
hack a reality (helps fix sprite lag, as well as boost the rom size, among
other things). Recently, by miracle, I was able to make the patch work using
SA-1, but how I went about it is something I have not been able to replicate
as of yet. It's a messy, Frankenstein method of going about it, but I have a
clean rom with it patched onto it as a base to use for future hacks of mine
that need it; only issue with the game now is actually going about my way to
manually reinsert every resource I've added into the hack so far.

I genuinely expect this hack to not be finished until the 2030s, as my music
takes up majority of my time (I get revenue from it), along with other
hobbies & projects. I plan to finish it no matter what, and with all that is
happened up to this point with it, I can't let myself just give up on
something I've put so much of my time into at this point. As of the release
of this demo, "Super Weegle World" is only officially complete up to the
first half of world two, though the rest of the game's development should be
much smoother now, since I have a much better grasp at what I'm doing here.
Despite this, the rom is fully playable in theory, as majority of the levels
have yet to go through the new level design process, maintaining that older
style from 2022 and before. I hope people enjoy this demo and look forward to
the rest of it when it releases in who-knows-when.

For any more questions and concerns / suggestions, reach out to me on Discord
if you got it (lennoxfoxwood), as that's where I'm most active. If you don't
use that (yeah, I don't blame you), email me at lennoxfoxwood@gmail.com. Be
weary though, as I might not respond right away and could take days through
