THE CHAMBER OF 32 DOORS
!!! SPOILERS !!!

There are spoilers ahead - if you want to experinece the hack without any prior knowledge of what in my opinion is some pretty cool stuff, go away now.

Also if you are in a hurry, just read until I get into really dull technical details, the basics of the extra content is in the first 20 lines or so.

------------------------------------

After you complete all 32 rooms in this hack, you will see the standard credits screen with orb ending.

I consider this "100%", but of course moderators and people who like to complete things a lot (...) should read on

Collecting the "Chaos Moon" or orb here will clear the first of 2 exits, AND will trigger the blue switch palace flag...

...which opens the path to another door in "The Chamber", which starts Chaos Mode (or basically a randomizer with limited lives)

You have 32 lives to complete a shuffled version of the hack
    - You cannot gain more lives than you entered a room with, to prevent farming, cheesing, or cheating really
    - There are bonus rooms every 4 to collect more lives (if you are alert enough)
    - The rooms are not purely random but have a progression mirroring the standard mode
    - There is a final boss encounter with a caveat, you have 1 attempt (please utilize save states if you want, I won't tell)
    - Clearing the final boss will give you a second orb and now you have completed the game no matter what anyone says

Completing all 32 rooms in Chaos Mode could be called "101%", and collecting both orbs could be "102%", but those kinds of metrics have real "this amp goes to 11" energy.

Oh also there is a high score indicator that appears on the OW after you clear standard mode. It shows:
    - "H - ## S - ##"
H indicates the high score, or your distance PB for Chaos Mode
S indicates top streak, or the max number of rooms you have cleared without dying

An additional easter egg that I left in so I can impliment it better in my next project is a cumulative attempt counter that sprung from the table of flags to track progress in Chaos Mode. It is at $40:4200, and it is buggy, and it also uses only a byte per room so if you want to reset your all-time attempt counts just throw the room and die 255 times :)

If you want to dig in more, I have included the RAM Map I used to keep my sanity during this project. If any INsanity shows in this document, I think anybody starting out with 6502 based ASM might understand.

For those who are curious, I am more than willing to share anything and everything I did on this project for those who want to just know more about ASM or want to do another hack like this. I couldn't have done any of this without the work of hundreds and hundreds of selfless people so I am willing to contribute even my menial discoveries from doing all this.

And remember: without deviation from the norm, true progress is not possible (- FZ)

Also Happy 20 Years SMWCentral!
